I forgot how to spell your name...
So the EX decided to post some crazy anti-stalker tripe on her myspace --- the funny thing about it is that she spelled my name right and by the time i had seen it (now) i had completely forgotten how to spell her name ....
perhaps she is sad that she isn't with me anymore (true that)
Or that she gained so much weight that i forgot about her while we were dating (ie she was failing out of school)
Or that she got a masters degree in something that doesn't require any entry requirements (library 'science') and thinks it is as good as someone who has done something...

I look good.
That is really all i have to say today.
One of the office staff took me out to buy some new things last weekend - and i had forgotten, in learning all this real-world law stuff, just how good i look. Or can look when i don't have someone wearing me down...

Good day so far...
Already won one case
THEN Jimmy Johns came by to give out free food to all of us (not sure why)...
And now off to Orange County to win another case...

Perhaps failing out of law school WAS a good idea...
Not for me (of course) since i didn't fail out.
But that report shows that some people who failed out of school in the first year might have it better in the long term than those who didn't.... double so if they were bad at test and would have had issues with the bar exam.
It hurts the people from lower tier schools harder ... but i can't really be that saddened by a srinking of the overall lawyer-market. But the law schools (or lawyer mills) that exist only because it is an easy source of cash should be the ones hurt NOT those students who have dreams of doing something other than paperwork.
I mean.. my office kills a LOT of trees everyday. Lots of trees.

So - Thursday
Thursday - while i still thought i was spending the weekend in Chicago - i went up to indy to do the whole oil change/yearly making sure my car wouldn't die on me (4 years old and only 30,000 miles so it better not die on me)...
So when i got back to town - thirsty thursday was dieing out. There were only 3 people still around. As we talked and i considered how to ask jessica (a different jessica from the post below) what her status was - some people started to trickle in. The thirsyist took off and i was about to retreat home.
Until - I overheard (which isn't hard to do since we were at the alley) one of the girls* say that it was this guys birthday. Well - since the alley has like 4 tables - and i had sole possession of one - i decided a good birthday gift would be - the gift of a table (laugh if you will - this is a prized object here) ... he thanked me told me he was a bartender at sports and that i should stick around for another beer.
It was his birthday - what could i do but say yes.
Now. The alley is great because they serve HUGE GOOOOOOD beers. Micros and imports on draft. Quite stunning that more students aren't there. It is right next to the Crazy Horse and the Irish Lion - both great bars - so the students who know of them (and who doesn't? I knew about blarney puff balls long before i turned 21)
So the girls he was with were 'bud light' girls ie chicks who get paid to buy beer for people but mostly college kids. So before i knew it they had gotten me a beer or two and i was chat'n it up with them. A little later we hit the Crazy Horse - where, of course, more beers were had.
I also picked up a few clients (assuming that a conflicts check works out) - which is a bit strange - but it works for me.
I got home safe and sound (i didn't allow them to get me the shots they were doing)
but that was just my second thursday night - after being bummed about not being able to hit chicago for the weekend...
after a year and a half of living as a hermit (and being emotionally abused by an emotional child [ie the ex]) all is turning to the good.

The lack of post is a good thing!
Since it means that i'm being thrown into a trial next week that really i shouldn't be doing.
It appears to be a open-and-shut case... except that i'm sure as a newbie i could screw something up - not get some evidence in or something.
AND discovery was kinda messed up.... but so it goes.
It does feel good to be back in the best town in the world - tonight i'm going to roller derby - how freaking cool is that, eh? I'm sure there will be facebook updates/photos if Jessica shows up - mostly since she is addicted to taking pictures.
its like, "dude. put the camera down and have fun"
J: "But... I AM having fun..."
ok.
So. I think i'll get a cigar and a beer - and sit back in the hottub and pour thru this discovery before the derby.
I'd talk more legal stuff - but do you really want to know about my trip to brown ctny for court and the tourist i had to wade thru just to find the building? Or the trip to owen cty - where the parking meter is $0.25 and you get 2 hours.

Nice...
...to see the colts play like the old colts. They completely man-handled the ravens.
But before i get all happy - the scheldule is brutal the next couple of weeks

FDR prolonged the Depression...
According to some UCLA econ profs. I'm sure this will...
1) Kids in highschool will be taught that the new deal might not have saved everything
2) that if the economy keeps sinking that the government will take this under advisment and NOT push thru more big spending and programs.

Strange night...
So was at the Lion with some prosecutors and a judge last night. Had a pint or two and stopped about midnight. But got into some good discussion and didn't leave until the place closed down.
At 230am.
It was funny walking back to the car and mentally making the note that we were the only two people stone-cold sober on the streets.
Meanwhile - at 7am had to wake up for the tailgate. The first showing of the RV. So nice... but i had duties ... had to drive a 4 year old 2 hours away... SO - it was just pop for me.
Good times.

I've never signed my name so many freaking times...
I'm just happy that i don't have to type up all those pleadings and forms and whatnot. I look'm over - but typing them all up would mean i wouldn't get as much court time as i've had.
3 days in... 3 days of court. Sure it means i'm not wearing jeans... but i can deal with that sacrofice... i suppose.
The phone SHOULD be replaced shortly - but it hasn't been... so any text or calls since sept 27th have gone unnoticed. Deal with it :)

First off... a big thank you to subway...
Those "$5 foot long" jingle has been in my head all freaking week.
I even stopped by there on monday to get one. But, that annoying little song isn't why i'm thanking you - it is because for everyone of those there is one less jared ad. Which is a good thing.

BEST AD EVER....
And it is so good mostly because... D's can defend against it... You just can't... These whores took money and stood in the way of reform - and, sadly, they will not be held accountable... They took money for campaigns and NOW they are the solution? If i was McCain THIS is the ad i would run... ALL THE FREAKING TIME.... Congress has the lowest approval % EVER ... if you don't run against them now.. then when will you?

And all that...
Well...
Been an interesting week..
1) I lost my phone.
2) Had a great tailgate last weekend - sadly IU lost... but it is IU football so it isn't as soul crushing as ... well it isn't soul crushing at all.
3) I decided that this whole free-lance thing wasn't working - as a man much smarter than I said, "that only really works in volume - and to do that you need a staff of people" ... yeah. I agree.
4) My ex finally - after nearly a year - paid me back. With (sorta) interest. Go her - and all those who told me to just write off that cause she would never pay. Sure i'm guessing she will never talk to me again... but it was paid. AND at a very important time - as it paid my bar dues and gas to get to the interview... Oh...
5) I accepted an Offer on Thursday. Nothing like accepting an offer and having a court date on monday. Ekk Oh and i'll have 4 people UNDER me... now THAT will be interesting...
6) But ... it is freaking bloomington. The best freaking city in the world. Well perhaps not - BUT, i'll be able to travel to some ofthe best cities in the world...
7) Travel. Something i plan to do. Soon.
8) The VP debate.
Hmm. I watched it - just a few hours after having signed the offer - so i had had a couple of beers. But, i really didn't think Palin won. I also didnt' think Biden won - in fact i was thinking that they both lost (is that possible) - the talking heads all made it sound like that it was even or tied or Palin won or Biden won (kinda depended on what channel you were watching - which tells you more about the media than about the debate)... Biden was full of info - sadly most of it was made up shit. Oh that Cafe he was talking to people about... closed in the 1990s. The current VP is the 'worst ever' - except Arron Burr killed a founder AND was a tratiorist bastard who raised armies in the west...
HOWEVER - thanks to the media - we were all led to believe that Palin is some retard - and so in general Palin wins. And hell - standing up to a 6 term senator who has run for president twice and looked his equal might be considered a win.
9) The Pacers are claiming that the economy is the reason for poor ticket sales (gladly they have offered lower pricing packages to fill the stands) - But really... they need to realize that they have a crappy product. They had an average of 12,000 fans last year - D-riot had 22,000 last year. Why? I'd guess because THEY WIN.
The Pacers had a great many years (1993-2001 or so) and got a new place to play. Now they suck. Why would i go to a pacer game? Cause i want to pay for a bunch of thugs? No thanks.
10) Next week should be the strangest and longest week i've had in a LONG time... But after that... good things..

wooo woo ... YOU will be held accountable...
Democrat Barack Obama promised Wednesday that if he is elected president "American taxpayers will never again have to put their money on the line to pay for the greed and irresponsibility of Wall Street.
But - for the Greed or (and) irresponsbility of CONGRESS... yeah.. no worries about that...
Cause Senator Dodd - only got the most from Frannie/Freddie - and Chairs the committee that is suppose to OVERSITE these comp...
Or Barney Frank - who oversites these companies and was sleeping with the person who was making serious bank off of these companies.
Obama will NOT be held accountable.. for he is the ONE. He is perfect and will solve all...
unless of course it is the fault of others (ie everyone he throws under the bus) - i nearly hope that he wins ... only so that all these cultish followers will become disillusioned and (while being thrown into a market they produced) forced to pay the hire taxes.. they might look to the constitution and realize they fucked up in supporting O-Marxist.
i can dream can't i?
The Teleprompter... Strikes BACK...
Funny stuff. There was a day when we could only see something like this from SNL, Leno, or Letterman... but as it is a sin to be critical of the choosen one - we have to rely on the internet(s).
