Shop online OR DIE! ...?
So. A Walmart worker was killed today under a stampede of shoppers in Long Island.
WTF?
I've never understood the "lets go shopping at 5am the day after Thanksgiving" thing. As a child i wasn't a big fan of Thanksgiving. I was a newspaper boy and thankgiving was like an extra sunday thrown into the week. Heavy papers - and irate customers if they didn't get the 40lbs of ads.
Oh sure i like the food and not going to school and all. But it just was never that big of a holiday. It was just kinda the one sandwiched between the two FUN holidays (Holloween/Christmas) AND it was really the start of Winter. Thanksgiving was the start of cold. Which... again as a newspaper kid ... cold was never welcome.

thanksgiving...
I think that the only reason that we are forced to watch D-riot Lions football each and every thanksgiving is that we will realize just how lucky we are.
I mean... they suck.. they really really suck...
and every year we, while eating more than we should, realize that things could be worse. WE could be lions fans... or even lions fans living in Michigan!
And all is well...
so long as you are not a lions fan living in the hell-town... THEN you are just taking one for the team... but by the time the end of Nov. comes around you know that your team is hopeless and have moved on to something else...

Add New Jersey to the growing list of insolvent states...
The state of New Jersey is insolvent. Bankrupt might be a better word. New Jersey is $60 billion in the hole on pension funding and the Governor is planning on skipping payments in a "pension payment holiday" until 2012 so as to not increase property taxes. To top it off, the ongoing plan assumptions are 8.25%. Sorry NJ, that simply is not going to happen
Elected officals give state employees promises of good retirements but don't really worry about paying for them.
You'll see that quite a few states will be in this pickle the next couple of years. California is in the same boat. It is gonna get ulgy...
A question that needs to be asked...
Pethokoukis has a question: “Mr. Geithner, the job of the New York Fed is to — now I am quoting its own web site — ’supervise and regulate financial institutions in the Second District [Wall Street]. Its primary objective is to maintain safe and competitive U.S. and global banking systems.’ You have been in your current post since 2003 and during that time the U.S. financial system has come close to complete disintegration. Why do you deserve a promotion?”
One wonders if this will be asked at his senate hearings...

Watching the grilling...
Of members of congress on the auto execs was hard to take.
I mean - what right does congress have to bitch and moan about the finances of any company?
A shame all those execs were looking for a hand out - and not able to call congress out on its inability to balance a budget.
But my thinking on this is.. if the big 3 get bailed out - why would a company ever go into chapter 11 again? Isn't that what chapter 11 is FOR - and how stupid do you think the airlines feel now ... they have to be thinking "dude, why did we reorg in bankruptcy when we could have just gone to congress asking for a bailout every couple of years..."

This could be...
...the longest i've gone without posting.
Mostly because i just don't have a lot to say. Oh except for ...
1) the Contempt hearing i have tomorrow. More details on that after the case is over.
2) many of the things i do all day long are interesting and post-worthy. Except... well there is that all NOT talking about client-stuff. A shame really - i have some good stories.
3) On the more personal front will come in another post. A post just decicated to last weekend - the promise, the fustration, and everything else.

Random Odds and ends..
1) New Jersey Pol decides to piss on everyone... literally. Story kinda forgets to tell us his party (D).
2) Wall Street Journal has a good bit on the attempted theft of a Senate Seat (also D)
3)Drive on a busy street? Obama is thinking about taxing you for the privilage.

Don't catch voter fraud... you might be fired...
Last week Mike Sandvick, head of the Milwaukee Police Department's five-man Special Investigative Unit, was told by superiors not to send anyone to polling places on Election Day. He was also told his unit -- which wrote the book on how fraud could subvert the vote in his hometown -- would be disbanded.
They found at least 4,000 illegal votes back in 2004 - in a state where Kerry only won by 12,000. And that was just in one town.
I'm shocked - SHOCKED - that a town would stop them from looking into crime. Oh wait - the crime would be comming FROM those getting elected... oh well in that case..
The Dead voting in Ohio...
Someone who has been dead since 1993... voted. And yet ...
Now... Evidence wasn't my favorite class... but when someone who has been dead for 15 years votes - i think the VOTE is really good evidence of Fraud.
While Platten said she’s concerned about what NewsChannel5 found, she insisted there is no evidence of fraud.

Big city vote stealing... pt 1
GOP Election Board members have been tossed out of polling stations in at least half a dozen polling stations in Philadelphia because of their party status.
A Pennsylvania judge previously ruled that court-appointed poll watchers could be NOT removed from their boards by an on-site election judge, but that is exactly what is happening.
I'm shocked - SHOCKED to see corruption happening...

I'm shocked - SHOCKED to see corruption happening...
The City of Brotherly Love was roiled in controversy during the 2004 election because of rigged voting machines that showed nearly 2,000 votes for Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry before the polls had opened

Obama: corruption you can count on!
I was in court nearly all day.
While at the court house there were two college kids who were laughing and being very excited about voting. Which is fine and all...
until you hear what they said ... which was that they were very happy to be voting for Obama for the third time.
Yeah. THIRD time. Once here in the college town, once at their parents home, and once in some district that their summer jobs were at.
The worst part - i was talking to one of the election commish. and she has heard this more than once - AND when she challanged them on it - they said that "Well, the Obama people told us we could..."
AND this is comming from Indiana - where we have the 'strictest' voting procedures in the country (imagine this we require an ID to vote)
After seeing this - i wish we would move to an Iraqi system - where you have to get your finger painted after voting.
